I can't it seems to be ~ to uncover this answer via google no matter where i go. I'm make the efforts to solve a math difficulty of rationalizing the numerator in my pre-calc class and I come upon this and fully forget what happens once you main point a root by the inverse. Execute the root and square release out and also it end up being x? does the 2 release out and also it come to be x * sqrt(x)? does it just stay x2 * sqrt(x)? Any assist would it is in appreciated. Thanks.

You are watching: X times square root of x sqrt(x) = x1/2

Therefore:

x2 sqrt(x) = x2 x1/2

By the regulations of index number this is equal to:

x2+1/2 = x5/2

Which is equal to:

sqrt(x5)

Ah, say thanks to you for putting it in the format. Helped me out a lot. Occasionally I forget simple things and also it renders things look a lot of more facility and transforming sqrt right into 1/2 was much simpler to watch it as ;P.

I'm not sure why the comment by /u/skaldskaparmal got downvoted so much.

If it's no immediately evident to you exactly how to leveling x2 * sqrt(x), then ns think plugging in worths is a good idea.

Of course plugging in values doesn't prove anything, but it have the right to serve together a great sanity check, and also can easily eliminate some wrong guesses.

For example, if x is 100, then sqrt(x) is 10. This help to inspect whether several of your guesses are plausible, and it likewise may make it less complicated to visualize why x2 * sqrt(x) simplifies the means it does.

You know x2 method x times x. Then x2 * sqrt(x) is x time x times other else. Specifically, if x is 100, climate x2 * sqrt(x) is 100 times 100 times 10.

That's a lot of bigger than x, i m sorry would just be 100. It's additionally bigger than x * sqrt(x), which would be 100 times 10.

Plugging in details numbers may help you "see" a bit an ext concretely why it's incorrect come "cancel" points in the methods that friend mentioned.

You can examine these by plugging in values. For example, take x = 4. Climate x2 * sqrt(x) = 42 * 2 = 32. Does this same x * sqrt(x)? does it equal x?

True. I did do that not soon after i posted by plugging right into my calculator 22 * sqrt(2) and also got 4 * sqrt(2) together my answer. Although the took significant off one feasible solution I thought of, i still couldn't number it out. I evaluate the response though!
